Christmas Slipper, Safety and a Roast lunch!

the St Neots team promoted their Falls Awareness campaign and handed out safer slippers to elderly people at Church Walk Day Centre before serving them with a roast lunch just before Christmas. The staff have been raising money to pay for this special lunch over the past few months and those who weren’t on care duties came to help prepare and serve. This is part of the local team’s commitment to supporting Church Walk Day Centre as their community project and the second time the centre has benefitted this month, following the recent donation of 24 new chairs by the Group’s Chairman, Bob Holt.

Sitting comfortably in St Neots

Following the St Neots branch’s successful bid at the conference to raise money to buy chairs for Church Walk Day Centre, which the branch supports through volunteering, Group Chairman, Bob Holt visited them in November to present the new chairs.
Bob also met Sandra Pirrie, who does all the cooking and was able to see the new potato peeler, he personally donated, in action.

Janet Final who runs Church Walk is over the moon with the new chairs, which they would never have been able to fund themselves. “They really brighten the place up, it looks so much cleaner and fresher when you walk in, everyone is really grateful to have them.” And to confirm that one of the centre users, Derek Ibbunson said, as he sunk back into his chair, “that’s better, can I take it home?”

Coffee morning and raffle for Action on Elder Abuse
To coincide with the charity's annual awareness day. The cakes were all provided by the staff  who also donated prizes for the raffle. Carers invited some of  their service users along for coffee and cake so they could support the event too.
