Stowmarket Team presents cheque to playgroup
We visited the United Reformed Church Playgroup in Stowmarket in September to present them with a cheque for £596.40 to buy outdoor play equipment. Our team voted to support the playgroup, which was nominated by one of their carers, as the branch’s community project for 2008. Lesley Tupper, who is the Play Leader also works as a carer for Careforce in the evenings and she nominated the project, several staff have children at the playgroup so it was a well-supported choice.
Cassie Holden is the playgroup’s chairman and she is delighted with the donation. “The care team have put in a fantastic effort, we would never have been able to raise this amount so quickly”, she said. “We have an outdoor play area a short walk away but at the moment we have no equipment or storage facilities on site and we have to try and carry play equipment with us. The money Careforce has raised will buy us a lockable shed and proper outdoor play items.”
Representing the Careforce team were: Laura Page, Donna Pearce, Sharon Turner, Kathy Fisher, David Warne, Maria Best, Bev Ralph and Shelly Burridge

In June our staff decided they wanted to raise money to buy equipment for URC playgroup and entered a float and ran a tombola in Stowmarket Carnival. Together with a generous donation from a client we have raised almost £600 and we won the best float competition and also had a lot of fun in the process!
