Cannock in the Community
The Cannock care team have chosen to support Staffordshire Young Carers as part of their commitment to others in the local community. Throughout the year staff will raise money towards sending young carers - some as young as five - on outings organised by the Young Carers Association. They are also offering their support to the Association in other ways through volunteering. The initiative received a fantastic boost when Branch Manager, Barbara Venner, presented to Group Chairman, Bob Holt ,and Directors John Coleman and Alan Long, at a spoof Dragon's Den during the company conference in October. Four branches were shortlisted to bid for funds for a local project and Barbara successfully secured enough money to pay for an outing for local young carers in the Spring.
Cannock branch held a Christmas party at the branch for service users and staff. The event was organised by Co-ordinator Melissa Morgan and carers and office staff helped prepare the food, decorate the office and collect items for a raffle.
Mince pies, cakes and carols combined to make it a traditional Christmas tea and there was even a visit by Santa - demonstrating that when it comes to Christmas we’re all young at heart.
