Jake's latest success

At the Hertfordshire County Championships on May 11 2008, Jake's throw of 38.09 metres won him the Gold Medal in the U15 boy's javelin. Despite being the youngest entrant in the group Jake is now the U15 County Champion. Well done!

Jake Exton, Careforce's Future Olympian
Jake Exton from Stevenage is a young Javelin player with high hopes of representing Britain in the 2012 Olympics. Careforce is sponsoring Jake because as a company it wants to support and encourage young people to take up sport.

Jake, who is 13 , only began Javelin throwing at school a year ago but threw much further than his contemporaries from the outset. His teacher, believing he had a natural talent and promising future, encouraged him and helped him to win Careforce's support.

Our sponsorship has allowed Jake to join Ridlins Track sports club in Stevenage and to get professional coaching. Jake trains alongside Britain's No. 3 in Javelin, Neil McClellan and is trained by Neil's father, John McClellan. he has also been able to buy special sports goggles and spikes.

Jake is dedicated and ambitious, he has trained all through the winter months and has just entered and won his first competition coming first in the under 15s section with a throw of 41 metres. Second place threw just 30 metres which demonstrates how good Jake is. The U.K.'s best throw in the age group currently stands at 43 metres and Jake has that in sight to beat very soon. The county championships are Jake's next challenge when he hopes to beat his personal best of 41.77 metres. Watch this space, we think Jake is definitely a future Olympian!
