Promoting independence and well-being
At Careforce we are embracing the Government's agenda to 'put people first' and we have begun to introduce measures that will gradually transform the way we deliver care.
Our Health, Our Care, Our Say confirmed that people want support when they need it, quickly, easily and in a way that fits into their lives. They want care services to consider their needs with a greater focus on preventative approaches to promote independence and wellbeing.
Our focus is on the provision of services which allow people to live their lives in the way they wish, to set their own priorities and describe their own individual needs and wishes - and ensure they feel secure and confident in making those choices.
The marked difference in the personalisation agenda is that the emphasis has shifted from reactive care provision to early intervention and prevention and better integration of all care and healthcare services with greater choice and control for everyone, whether that service is government- funded or self-funded. The move towards individualised budgets allows people to exercise their choices.
'Care and Repair'
Government health and social policy is focused on providing care at home but inappropriate, poorly adapted or poorly maintained housing can have a negative impact on physical or mental welfare. Careforce, working in partnership with Mears its sister company in the Mears Group is in a unique position to respond to the need for targeted housing repair and adaptation assistance for those least able to maintain their homes themselves. This practical partnership which is being developed will we believe help older people to live independently in their own house in their own community for longer and may contribute to the improvement of some chronic health conditions.
